Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey

The Oregon Department of Education wants to hear from your student!

The Student Educational Equity Development Survey (SEED) was developed by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) to gather information about the educational experiences of students in Oregon. This information will help ODE to develop appropriate resources and supports for districts in Oregon, and better target those resources and supports where they are most needed.
Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, Oregon law (House Bill 2656) requires all Oregon school districts to offer the
SEED survey to students in enrolled in grades 3-11. The survey typically takes 10-20 minutes to complete. Students
may skip any question on the survey they do not wish to answer, at any time and for any reason.

House Bill 2656 also permits parents or guardians to decline to have their student participate in the SEED Survey, either verbally or in writing. Parents can decline by completing one of the forms below, and submitting it to the front office of their student's school, or by talking to school staff.  Students may also decline to participate in the Survey, either verbally or in writing, before they take the Survey or after starting.
