Staff Spotlight: Nate Aeschliman

Sept. 29. 2021

This month’s Staff Spotlight is Nate Aeschliman, RSD’s grounds mechanic.

Learn more about Nate, who helps keep all of our district facilities in tip-top shape.

Nate Aeschliman is the Redmond School District’s grounds mechanic. He’s worked for the Redmond School District for three years. He is also a graduate of Redmond High School.

Before joining the school district, he worked for Mill Power Welding.

As grounds mechanic, he is responsible for all small engine repair on the district’s equipment, including mowers, tractors and trucks.

Nate is also part of a six-person team that works to keep all 15 buildings looking great. He assists with landscaping, lining athletic fields, plowing snow, maintaining irrigation, pest control, applying herbicides, conducting playground inspections and completing any other necessary tasks.

His favorite parts of the job are fixing the machines when they break, and painting the ball fields, but he insists he doesn’t have a favorite school. He likes the feeling of completing projects and getting them done correctly. But it’s not always easy. The challenge, in this position, is when things get changed at the last minute. “We have to figure out a solution for it,” he said.

In addition to his work in the grounds department, Nate also serves as an assistant coach for the Redmond High baseball team. “What drives me to coach is the love of the game and to give the kids the same experience I had playing the game,” he said. “And also I want to teach them how to become young men.”

Nate is married and has two sons, and he enjoys coaching the boys in basketball and baseball.

“Nate is an exemplary employee. He gets things done without complaint and does what he’s asked to do. He cares about kids, education and our schools, and that’s what drives him to work so hard — he does this job, and does it well, because he wants to help kids have a great experience at school.”
— Marc Horner, Assistant Director of Operations

“Redmond High is so fortunate to have Nate as part of the baseball program. He comes to the field every day with the sole focus of making the day better for our players. Nate’s smile and work ethic rubs off on the players and staff, making us all better people.” — Stan Manley, RHS Baseball Coach
