Ridgeview Lockdown

Dec. 9, 2021

Dec. 9, 2021

RSD Families,

We are writing you today to inform you that Ridgeview High School went into lockdown for approximately 98 minutes this afternoon in partnership with Redmond Police Department.

The school received a report of a student suspected to be in possession of a gun while on campus. In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff members and out of an abundance of caution, we placed the school on lockdown.

During the lockdown, Redmond Police Department responded and conducted a thorough investigation. No students or staff members were injured or harmed. The lockdown ended at 2:20 p.m., the end of the school day, and students were released from their classes by police and school administrators.

A lockdown occurs when a threat happens inside of the school facility. When this happens our school and classroom doors lock, lights are turned off and students are asked to remain quiet while the threat is addressed by law enforcement. We train on a regular basis with students and staff using the I Love U Guys Foundation Standard Response Protocol.

We know that these events are scary, but it is of the utmost importance that we take threats seriously and keeping student and staff safety is our top priority. We plan to have counselors on site at Ridgeview High School tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 10 for students and staff who may need to talk about the event.

We are thankful for the swift action and coordination of our school staff and the Redmond Police Department during today’s event.

School will operate as normal tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 10.

Thank you.

Familias RSD,

Gracias.
