RSD Campuses Closed 9.11.20

Good morning RSD families,

Due to hazardous air quality RSD school campuses are closed and daily meal distribution will not occur today. Our school buildings exchange indoor air with outdoor air every night. Unfortunately, this has caused our school buildings to have poor indoor air quality levels.

If you have an appointment today at your student’s school your school staff will be contacting you to reschedule.  Online classes will continue as scheduled.

Thank you,

Redmond School District

Redmond School District Equity Task Force

Good morning Redmond School District community,

Redmond School District’s belief that Success is Possible for All Students is rooted in our commitment to educate all students and provide a welcoming, inclusive space for everyone. The events of the past year have given our district an opportunity to reflect on how we can truly deepen this commitment while really striving to identify and eliminate barriers that exist for our students and families. We believe in our school system’s ability to create access and opportunities that benefit each student.

Redmond School District is committed to working with our community to examine our practices and create a productive path forward for every child. RSD has announced the development of a District Equity Task Force (ETF) to work in partnership with our students, parents, staff, and community members to address systemic barriers that prevent our students from success.

Although we anticipate the roles and responsibilities of the ETF to include creating goals and an action plan, much of the focus of our work will center on:

Adopting an …

Redmond School District to Pursue $27.5 Million Bond Measure in November

The Redmond School District Board of Directors voted unanimously to place a $27.5 million bond measure on the ballot this November during a regularly scheduled board meeting on August 12.

The $27.5 million bond measure is not estimated to increase the current tax rate due to savings from refinancing previously issued bonds and projected growth in total taxable assessed values district-wide. In addition to this unique circumstance, the district has qualified for a $7.6 million matching grant from the State of Oregon’s OSCIM program. The district will only receive this grant if the measure passes.

“The board and the district respect the financial concerns of our community,” shared Tim Carpenter, Redmond School District Board Chair. “With thoughtful planning and actions this measure will not add taxes to our community. We believe this bond will protect our students and staff and preserve the life of our facilities while being good stewards of community resources.”

The board’s decision comes two years after the district’s narrow loss of a $70 million bond measure in 2018. After months of discussion and continued work from …

Online Registration & Returning Student Verification

Redmond School District has opened online student registration and verification for all students for the 2020-21 school year.

Using ParentVue, the district’s parent portal, parents or guardians can securely register new or verify returning student information in all grade levels. This significantly reduces the traditional paper documentation that was previously completed in person then hand delivered to schools.

To register new students or verify returning student information, parents can visit the district website at and click the online registration link on the home page.

Parents of new students will still be required provide certain documents during online registration such as proof of birth, proof of immunization and proof of address. The online registration process will detail which documents are required for new student registration.

Parents can contact their student’s school for questions or more information about Redmond School District online registration.

7.28.20 Redmond School District Fall Reentry Update

Good afternoon Redmond School District Community,

Our reality continues to change as we navigate this pandemic and plan for return to school in September. Although our intent is to welcome students back on site in some capacity, we know that our local and state response to the pandemic is in a constant state of change.

Today, Governor Kate Brown announced new health metrics that determine how and when school districts in Oregon will reopen. These metrics are based on the number of COVID-19 cases and the COVID-19 positivity rate per capita––both on a county and statewide level––setting requirements for when it is safe for in-person instruction to resume, and when the level of COVID-19 spread in a community would warrant a transition to comprehensive distance learning. You can view more information about current COVID cases by county statewide on the Oregon Health Authority’s website

Redmond School District is working to interpret these new metrics and understand how these guidelines will affect reopening this fall. We ask that you please stay tuned for additional information.

Schools are the foundation …

Fall Reentry Information

Redmond School District will comply with the Oregon Department of Education’s Ready Schools, Safe Learners Guidance, which was recently updated on July 22, 2020. This includes the updated guidance regarding face coverings and cohort sizes.

Parents and community members can visit the district’s new Fall 2020 Website to learn about educational options for the fall and to complete an intent-to-enroll in our full-time online program.

“Redmond School District, along with all of Oregon’s 197 school districts, is preparing to follow the requirements set forth by the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority. We know that there is nothing better than in-person instruction. In order for us to do so, we must comply with the new public health mandates set forth by our governor to keep our teachers, staff and students safe. We have purchased appropriate PPE and are ready to support our teachers and students this fall.”

Charan Cline, Ed.D.
