Districts and public charter schools must provide parents with notice at least 30 days prior to administering the summative assessment in Math and ELA using the ODE provided 30 day notice and opt-out form. Please read the attached document (English/Spanish) to learn more about state testing requirements and parental rights to opt-out of the Math and/or  ELA summative assessment. Federal and state laws require that at least 95% of students in grades 3-8 and 11 take the Oregon Summative Assessment in English Language Arts and Math. More information regarding the importance of state testing and systems of accountability will be posted soon. 

The ODE 30-Day Notice for Statewide Tests document including the optional opt-out form will be available on the district and school websites for families of students that are interested. If choosing to opt your student out of state testing please follow the directions listed below:

  1. Print a copy of the form off the website OR pick up a copy in the main office at your student’s school
  2. Complete the form
  3. Return the form to your student’s school
